FACULTY POSITIONS IN GYNECOLOGIC ONCOLOGYCLINICAL CARE AND CLINICAL RESEARCH

UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO SCHOOL OFMEDICINE

TheUniversity of New Mexico Comprehensive Cancer Center (UNMCCC) and the Departmentof Obstetrics and Gynecology, Division of Gynecologic Oncology at the UNMSchool of Medicine invite physicians or physician-scientists with training andexpertise in gynecologic oncology and a focused interest in clinical care andclinical research for patients with gynecologic malignancies. The successfulapplicant(s) will participate in the multidisciplinary clinical care ofpatients and in the design and conduct of cancer clinical trials. These are Open Rank, Flex Track positions. Faculty rank and appointment will be commensuratewith accomplishments. The successful applicant will have experience in the surgicaland chemotherapy based clinical care of gynecologic cancer includingparticipation in outreach clinical care and have a strong interest andcommitment to the development and execution of clinical trials and noveltargeted therapies for these cancers. The successful applicant(s) will serve as a reference expert clinician, clinical investigator, physician-scientists orpopulation clinician-scientist. Emphasiswill be placed on the ability to interface and collaborate with laboratory andclinical investigators, participate in multidisciplinary clinical andtranslational trial teams and participate in the teaching mission of theDivision, Department of Ob/GYN, UNMCCC, and institution. State-of-the-artfacilities along with excellent support and opportunities are available forresearch collaboration with laboratory-based investigators, populationscientists, and/or clinical trialists (investigator-initiated and cooperativegroup trials). Excellent salaries andstart up packages are available.

The University of New MexicoComprehensive Cancer Center is the Official Cancer Center of New Mexico and theonly National Cancer Institute-designated Cancer Center in a 500-mile radius.Its more than 120 board-certified oncology specialty physicians include cancersurgeons in every specialty (abdominal, thoracic, bone and soft tissue,neurosurgery, genitourinary, gynecology, and head and neck cancers), adult andpediatric hematologists/medical oncologists, gynecologic oncologists, andradiation oncologists as well as plastic and reconstruction surgeons. They,along with more than 600 other cancer healthcare professionals (nurses, nursenavigators, pharmacists, nutritionists, navigators, psychologists and social workers),provide treatment to 65% of New Mexico’s cancer patients from all across thestate and partner with community health systems statewide to provide cancercare closer to home. They treated approximately 14,000 patients in about100,000 ambulatory clinic visits in addition to in-patient hospitalizations atUNM Hospital. A total of nearly 400 patients participated in cancer clinicaltrials testing new cancer treatments that include tests of novel cancerprevention strategies and cancer genome sequencing. The more than 100 cancerresearch scientists affiliated with the UNMCCC were awarded $35.7 million infederal and private grants and contracts for cancer research projects. Since2015, they have published nearly 1000 manuscripts, and promoting economicdevelopment, they filed 136 new patents and launched 10 new biotechnologystart-up companies. Finally, the physicians, scientists and staff have providededucation and training experiences to more than 500 high school, undergraduate,graduate, and postdoctoral fellowship students in cancer research and cancerhealth care delivery. Qualifications

Minimum qualifications include: 1) MD degree or MD/PhD or equivalent with board certification/eligibility in Obstetrics and Gynecology; 2) board certification/eligibility in Gynecologic Oncology; 3) focused interest in an area of gynecologic cancer research and commitment to team science; and 4) must be eligible to work in the U.S

Preferred qualifications include: 1) experience in cancer clinical trials design and conduct; 2) experience in surgical and clinical education and training of residents and medical students; 3) A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities
