Position Summary

PLEASE NOTE: This position is for the UNM Gallup Branch, located in Gallup, NM, approximately 138 miles west of Albuquerque, NM.

The University of New Mexico-Gallup invites applications for theposition of Nursing Lecturer. We are oneof four branch community colleges of the University of New Mexico and serveapproximately 2200 students. Located inGallup NM, approximately 138 miles west of Albuquerque, UNM-Gallup is situatedin the Four Corners region and near the Navajo Nation, Zuni Pueblo and HopiReservation. The city of Gallup has apopulation of 22,000 and the surrounding areas provide an abundance of outdoorrecreational activities, various museums and extraordinary cultural vibrancy,while maintaining a small-town feel.

UNM-Gallup serves a hugely diverse student population with 100+ fulltime and part-time faculty members. Weare fully accredited by the Higher Learning Commission offering Associatedegrees, selected Bachelor’s degrees, Career Technical Education certificateprograms, and adult basic education (ABE/GED), workforce training and personalenrichment courses. UNM-Gallup servesmultiple high school populations including McKinley Academy, Middle CollegeHigh School and the Center for Career and Technical Education.

It is an exciting time to join our faculty as we are expanding ourprograms, engaging with our community, establishing multiple endowments and grant opportunitieswhile hiring a substantial cohort of new faculty. Lecturers at UNM-G have career advancementopportunities that are outlined in the UNM Faculty Handbook and faculty unioncollective bargaining agreement.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach a 27 credit hourannual course load in the area of nursing, primarily teaching conceptualcontent to undergraduate nursing students, maintain an active service record(as defined by the UA-UNM CBA), participate in monthly Division meetings andexecute other relevant duties as agreed upon in conjunction with the divisionchair in an annual faculty-chair agreement. In addition, the selected candidate will be expected to demonstrate acommitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through actively practicinginclusive behavior and proactively managing bias.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • Holds an unencumbered Registered Nurse licensure in New Mexico or an unencumbered Registered Nurse licensure in a compact state in the US
  • At least two years of clinical nursing experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing or a Terminal degree in Nursing (PhD or DNP)
  • Additional experience in specialties, such as medical/surgical, ICU, ER, pediatric, obstetric, and/or psychiatric nursing, preferably within the last two years
  • Demonstrated teaching experience at a branch/community college or similar institution
  • Demonstrated commitment to first-generation college students
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
