PLEASE NOTE: This position is for the UNM Gallup Branch, locatedin Gallup, NM, approximately 138 miles west of Albuquerque, NM.

The Universityof New Mexico-Gallup invites applications for a full-time Lecturer (Open Rank)in First-Year Experience and another area of General Education to begin inAugust 2025. We are one of four branch community colleges of the University ofNew Mexico and serve approximately 2200 students. Located in Gallup NM,approximately 138 miles west of Albuquerque, UNM-Gallup is situated in the FourCorners region and near the Navajo Nation, Zuni Pueblo, and Hopi Reservation.The city of Gallup has a population of 22,000 and the surrounding areas providean abundance of outdoor recreational activities, various museums andextraordinary cultural vibrancy, while maintaining a small-town feel.

UNM-Gallupserves a hugely diverse student population with 100+ full time and part-timefaculty members. We are fully accredited by the Higher Learning Commissionoffering Associate degrees, selected Bachelor’s degrees, Career TechnicalEducation certificate programs, and adult basic education (ABE/GED), workforcetraining and personal enrichment courses. UNM-Gallup serves multiple highschool populations including McKinley Academy, Middle College High School, andthe Center for Career and Technical Education.

Thesuccessful candidate will be expected to teach 27 credits per academic year -often to concurrently-enrolled high school students - in the areas ofFirst-Year Experience (FYEX) and at least one other general education area ofhigh need. These areas of high need include Art History, Film Studies, FineArts, History, Music Appreciation, Psychology, and Spanish language. Thesuccessful candidate will also maintain an active scholarship/service record(as defined by the UA-UNM CBA), participate in monthly Division meetings, andexecute other relevant duties as agreed upon in conjunction with the divisionchair in an annual faculty-chair agreement. In addition, the selected candidate will be expected to demonstrate a commitment todiversity, equity, and inclusion.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master’s degree or PhD from an accredited institution in an area of high need. Those areas include: Art History, Film Studies, Fine Arts, History, Music Appreciation, Psychology, and/or Spanish language, or in a similar area related to one or more of those disciplines.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Three or more years of experience teaching high-school students
• Experience teaching at UNM-Gallup or in a similar community college environment
• A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
