Position Summary

The University of New Mexico is seeking a full-time 1.0 FTE AEGD Residency Director in the open rank track. The Residency Director will function with duties centered on resident education mainly overseeing the Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) educational mission to maintain accreditation with CODA.

  • The residency director will work with Department Leadership in providing vision and coordination of the general dentistry educational elements matching the UNM Health Sciences Center and Department educational goals.
  • The residency director functions as the front line leader working with dental residents and staff for compliance with UNM Health Sciences Center policies, program procedures and office processes.
  • The residency director is responsible for coordinating resident professional education, interprofessional practice collaborations, direct clinical care and the educational foundation forprofessional behavior.
  • Candidates should be clinically competent for supervising resident clinical duties including hospital dentistry.

The Department of Dental Medicine has a well established AEGD program with a stable support staff to help with administrative duties. The position will be a UNM School of Medicine full-time faculty member who is part of the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Minimum Qualifications:

  • DDS/DMD from a CODA accredited school.
  • Completion of GPR/AEGD program from CODA accredited school.
  • Able to obtain a New Mexico Dental License.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with and supervising dental and or medical residents
  • Experience with coordinating resident professional education, interprofessional practice collaborations, direct clinical care and the educational foundation for professional behavior.
