Position Summary

The University of New Mexico is seeking an Open Rank, open track faculty to join the Department of Dental Medicine, Division of Dental Services. The Division of Dental Services is an interdepartmental program organized to build collaboration in the areas of education, research and service. This position will act as Interim Residency Coordinator until a full-time position is filled.

The successful applicant will join a team of faculty providing and overseeing direct dental diagnosis, treatment, procedures, and care in a public health setting. The position requires a general dentist with a demonstrated strong clinical background in public health dentistry. The ideal candidate should be comfortable providing general dentistry for adults, children, and special needs patients. The dentist should have current relative experience with general dentistry including comfort with routine and uncomplicated surgical extractions. Prior hospital dentistry is a preference as some call will be required and after orientation may be assigned duties in an operating room setting. The program is a stand-alone dental program in an academic Health Science Center.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Doctorate degree in Dental Surgery or Dental Medicine
  • At least 1 year of directly related experience or enrollment in a Dental Residency Program
  • Current Licensure from New Mexico Board of Dental Health Care

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3 Years Experience providing general dentistry for adults, children, and special needs patients
  • Current relative experience with general dentistry including comfort with routine and uncomplicated surgical extractions
  • Experience with prior hospital dentistry
