Position Summary

The University of New Mexico (UNM)School of Medicine Department of Dermatology seeks a skilled Medical Directorwho brings new ideas and thrives in an innovative team environment. Ourdepartment serves a large, medically complex population and functions as theconsultation source for the entire state of New Mexico. We provide general andpediatric dermatology, phototherapy, laser, dermatologic surgery/Mohs andaesthetic services. We have a strong partnership with dermatopathology,community dermatologists and colleagues at UNM. Responsibilities include:outpatient dermatology, collaboration with the UNM Hospital (UNMH) DermatologyClinic Unit Director on aligned goals/tactics, service as the liaison with UNMHstaff to ensure high quality patient-centered care, and weekend/call coveragefor inpatient dermatology shared with the entire team.

The UNM Health Sciences Center(HSC) is the only academic health complex in the state and is located on theUNM campus in beautiful Albuquerque, New Mexico. The UNM HSC prioritizesresources to its four mission areas - Education, Research, Patient Care andCommunity Outreach - to provide New Mexicans with the highest level of healthcare. This also provides opportunity for transdisciplinary scholarship andresearch with collaborations from Main Campus Scholars, Law School, School ofPopulation Health, and robust community organizations.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Medical Doctor or equivalent
  • Board eligible/certified in Dermatology
  • Eligible for medical licensure in NM
  • Eligible for State of New Mexico Board of Pharmacy certification and federal DEA registration
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Interest in working with diverse team(s) ofproviders, learners and staff
  • Experience in clinical/business operations andnursing partnerships
  • Skill leading teams with growth mindsetprinciples
  • Commitment to UNM School of Medicine missionareas (Education, Research, Patient Care, Community Outreach)
  • Interest in helping the ACGME accreditedresidency program evolve and excel
  • Experience teaching and mentoring learners ofvarious backgrounds
