The University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center, Department of Internal Medicine, seeks applications for the position of a Chief, Division of Infectious Diseases. This is an Open track, Associate or Professor level position, reporting directly to the Chair of the Department of Internal Medicine. Salary and rank will be commensurate with experience and education. This position may be subject to a criminal records screening in accordance with New Mexico law.
The successful candidate will provide strong leadership and direction for all clinical, educational, and scholarly activities of the Division. The successful candidate will be an academic physician with proven excellence in teaching, leadership and management and a strong commitment to career development of faculty and trainees. The Division of Infectious Diseases is based at both University Hospital and at the affiliated Veterans Administration Medical Center, providing clinical services, outreach clinics and education throughout New Mexico.The division has a strong history of NIH funding and research within both Institutions, and cares for a unique array of infectious diseases in a diverse, underserved population, with innovative programs such as the Project ECHO telemedicine platform. As the only academic medical center for the state, opportunity exists for innovation in teaching and providing care for both rural and urban populations from diverse cultures.
Board certified in Infectious Diseases;
Must be eligible to work in US (this is not a J-1 Visa opportunity); and
Clinical experience in Infectious Diseases.
Experience and interest in teaching and graduate medical education;
Successful leadership experience which could include: administration, financial management, personnel management, and mentorship of faculty;
Established track record of publications and/or extramural funding.
