Position Summary
The University of New Mexico,School of Medicine, Neurology Department seeks a Cognitive Neurologist tojoin our Memory and Aging team in an Open Rank, Open Track position and who isdedicated to the clinical care of persons with cognitive disorders to build arobust clinical practice.

The successful candidate will joina multidisciplinary group of Neurology faculty within the Neurology Department,UNM’s Center for Memory and Aging (CMA) and the New Mexico Alzhiemer’s DiseaseResearch Center (ADRC).

This position offers opportunitiesto engage in clinical trials, community outreach, and/or dementia sciencewithin the CMA and ADRC. New Mexico hasa large rural population of medically underserved Hispanics and AmericanIndians and the newly funded ADRC has a commitment to provide dementia servicesfor this population.

Academic responsibilities includeparticipation in the teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows andresearch activities of the department.

The successful candidate isexpected to have excellent communications skills and the ability to workcollaboratively in interdisciplinary teams.

UNMHospital is the tertiary care center for the State of NM and contains the onlyPrimary Advanced Stroke Center, dedicated Neuroscience Critical Care Unit,Comprehensive Movement Disorder Center, NAEC level 4 Epilepsy Center, and ALS /MDA Center in the state. The Departmentof Neurology has 30 plus full-time and part-time attending physicians, 4 basicscience researchers, and is home to well-established Residency and multipleFellowship programs. AboutAlbuquerque, New Mexico:
Albuquerque,NM is a beautiful city with Sandia Mountains to the east and mesa to the west. It is ideal for outdooractivities and sports all year-round including running, hiking, biking andskiing. Albuquerque is 1 hour from SantaFe, NM and 2.5 hours from Taos, NM, both world famous for their art andculture. Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • MD degree or equivalent
  • Board eligible or certified in Neurology
  • Experience and training in neurological disease in older adults,especially dementia, Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders (ADRDs)
  • Eligible to work in the United States

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years of clinical experience in neurological care
  • Fellowship training in cognitive disorders
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and studentsuccess, as well as working with broadly diverse communities
