Position Summary

 

The Universityof New Mexico School of Medicine Department of Neurosurgery is recruiting tofill a board certified or board eligible, Open Rank, Open Track, position forprovision of pediatric neurosurgery care.  This person will join the establishedpediatric neurosurgeon currently practicing and teaching neurosurgery residentsat the University of New Mexico.  TheUniversity of New Mexico is the only tertiary referral Neurosurgical center inthe State of 2.3 million people.  Thereis a significant need and opportunity to grow and expand an establishedpractice focused on the pediatric patients of New Mexico.  Overall, the department has a comprehensivepractice focusing on a diverse range of neurological disorders in bothpediatric and adult neurosurgery, with recent re-establishment of an ACGMEapproved residency in 2022.  UNM is alsothe only Level 1 trauma center in the state and participation in the generaltrauma call pool will be expected.

Qualifications

MinimumQualifications

  • MD, DO, orequivalent degree
  • Completion of aResidency in Neurological Surgery, accredited by the Accreditation Council forGraduate Medical Education (ACGME)
  • Completion bystart date of a Fellowship in Pediatric Neurosurgery accredited by anAccreditation Council for Pediatric Neurosurgical Fellowships (ACPNF)

  • Academicneurosurgery practice; as a resident, fellow, or faculty member
  • Teaching; withlectures and presentations listed
  • Scholarlyactivity; with evidence of publication, participation in clinical/translational research, and/or independent funding of research
  • Professionalism; with outstanding ability to communicate effectively across multiplespecialties
  • Commitment toCommunity; with a demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of therich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the University'smission to serve local and global communities
