Position Summary |
The University of New Mexico School of Medicine Department of Neurosurgery is recruiting a board certified or board eligible, Open Rank, Open Track, neurosurgeon with an emphasis in a spine focused practice. Join 8 established neurosurgeons with three established spine-focused neurosurgeons currently practicing and teaching neurosurgery residents within the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of New Mexico Hospital (including Sandoval Regional Medical Center) and Lovelace Medical Center, an affiliated private hospital. The University of New Mexico is the only tertiary referral Neurosurgical center in the State of 2.3 million people. There is a significant need and opportunity for a neurosurgeon to grow and expand an established practice focused on the treatment of spinal disorders both complex and open and minimally invasive. Overall, the department has a comprehensive practice focusing on a diverse range of neurological disorders in both pediatric and adult neurosurgery. With recent re-establishment of an ACGME approved neurosurgery residency in 2022, there is ample opportunity to teach and be involved in an academic atmosphere. In addition to resident coverage, all subspecialty services are supported by advanced practice provider teams. UNM is the only Level 1 trauma center in the state treating both complex brain and spine injuries. Participation in the general and spine trauma call pool will be expected.
