Position Summary


The University of New Mexico Schoolof Medicine Department of Neurosurgery is recruiting a board certified or boardeligible, Open Rank, Open Track, general neurosurgeon with interest in AdultSpine Neurosurgery, to lead and grow the identified practice. Join 11 established neurosurgeons currentlypracticing and teaching neurosurgery residents with the University of NewMexico.

The University of New Mexico is theonly tertiary referral Neurosurgical center in the State of 2.3 million people. There is a significant need andopportunity to grow and expand an established practice focused on spine trauma. Overall, the department has acomprehensive practice focusing on a diverse range of neurological disorders inboth pediatric and adult neurosurgery, with recent re-establishment of an ACGMEapproved residency in 2022. UNM is alsothe only Level 1 trauma center in the state and participation in the generaltrauma call pool will be expected

Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications

  • MD, DO, or equivalent degree
  • Board certified or board eligible inNeurosurgery

Preferred Qualification

  • Commitment to the multiple missionsof an academic neurosurgery practice including clinical care, education, andresearch and service.
  • Evidence of scholarly productivity.Participation in clinical/translational research and publications.
  • An outstanding record ofprofessionalism with an ability to communicate effectively across multiplespecialties.
  • Commitment to the success of adiverse set of learners and to inclusive care of the New Mexico community
  • A demonstrated commitment todiversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working withbroadly diverse communities.
