Position Summary

The Department of Ophthalmologyand Visual Sciences at the University of New Mexico (UNM) Health SciencesCenter is expanding and seeks an outstanding pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus surgeon to joinour rapidly growing group.

Applicants must havecompleted an accredited pediatricophthalmology and strabismus fellowship. The successfulcandidate will be expected to develop a busy clinical practice at the UNMHospital Eye Clinic, and will share responsibility with existing faculty for calland medical student and resident education. Candidates are expected to have astrong commitment to clinical care, teaching, and research in an academicsetting. As part of the UNM Health System, the Eye Clinic provides arewarding mix of tertiary and indigent care.

Rank and salary will becommensurate with experience and credentials.

New Mexico is known as the Land of Enchantment for goodreason. Albuquerque is a culturally richand naturally beautiful city, with good weather year-round, perfect for outdoorenthusiasts. The Sandia Mountain wilderness is 20 minutes from UNM. There is alively arts scene, and we are close to the galleries of Santa Fe and Madrid,NM. There are two national laboratories nearby: Sandia and Los Alamos.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications for position:

  • Completion of an Ophthalmology Residency Program
  • Completion of a Pediatric Ophthalmology Fellowship
  • Board certified/eligible in Ophthalmology
  • Eligible for licensure in New Mexico
  • Eligible to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications for position:

  • Experience in clinical education
  • Experience in clinical research
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities
