Position Summary

The Department of Ophthalmology and VisualSciences at the University of New Mexico (UNM) Health Sciences Center isexpanding and seeks an outstanding comprehensive ophthalmologist to join ourrapidly growing group. This position is being recruited at open rank and opentrack.

Applicantsmust have completed an accredited ophthalmology residency program. Thesuccessful candidate will be expected to develop a busy clinical practice atthe UNM Hospital Eye Clinic, and will share responsibility with existingfaculty for call and medical student and resident education. Candidates areexpected to have a strong commitment to clinical care, teaching, and researchin an academic setting. As part of the UNM Health System, the Eye Clinic providesa rewarding mix of tertiary and indigent care.

Rankand salary will be commensurate with experience and credentials.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Completion of an Ophthalmology Residency Program
  • Board certified/eligible in Ophthalmology
  • Eligible for licensure in New Mexico
  • Eligible to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications for position:

  • Experience in clinical education
  • Experience in clinical research
  • Experience with medical retina
  • Experience with pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus
  • Experience with uveitis
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, and to serving a broadly diverse community
