Position Summary

TheDepartment of Pediatrics at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Centeris seeking an experienced clinician in Genetics/Dysmorphology at the Associate Professor or Professor Level to serve asDivision Chief for Genetics/Dysmorphology. The candidate will be involvedwith clinical care, medical education, mentoring of junior faculty and divisionadministration. There are excellent opportunities for research. Clinics are held in Albuquerqueand throughout New Mexico.The Division currently consists of two full-time clinical geneticists, two GeneticCounselors, a Metabolic Dietician, an RN coordinator and an Advanced Practice Provider.

UNMserves a diverse patient population and is the only Level 1 Trauma center forthe State. The Department of Pediatrics and Genetics/Dysmorphology Divisionhave a long tradition of providing outstanding, comprehensive care to thechildren of New Mexico. The ACGME-accredited pediatric residency program at theUniversity of New Mexico School of Medicine trains 60 pediatric residents. Pediatric fellowships at the institutioninclude pediatric emergency medicine, pediatric hospitalist, pediatric childabuse and neonatology. UNM is a memberof the NIH CTSA Consortium, and is a leader in biomedical research for thestate.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Able to obtain medical licensure(s) in the state of New Mexico.
  • Board certified in the broad specialty of Clinical Genetics, and/or board certified in either Medical Biochemical Genetics (a subspecialty) or Clinical Biochemical Genetics (a specialty).
  • At least 5 years of teaching and clinical experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in advising research projects and theses.
  • Experience in grant writing and obtaining research funding.
  • Record of scholarly activity.
  • 2 years of administrative experience including management of budgets.
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
