The University of the New Mexico School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics is recruiting a full-time faculty position at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor to join the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. The Department of Pediatrics is a multi-specialty group of >100 faculty at New Mexico’s only pediatric tertiary care facility. The Children’s Hospital of New Mexico is an integral part of the University of New Mexico Health Science Center, the State’s premier medical, educational and research institution. Final rank, salary, and track will be based on prior training and experience.
The Pediatric Hematology/Oncology service offers complete clinical care services for infants, children and adolescents with cancer and blood disorders. The service currently sees 60 new oncology patients per year at the Children’s Hospital and affiliated clinics. The Division is an active participant in COG with several division members involved in major and ongoing clinical protocols as well as disease strategy groups. The division houses a state funded hemophilia program, a survivorship program, and a vascular anomalies program.. The Division is also a part of the UNM Cancer Center, the only National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in the state and one of only 40 in the nation.
The successful candidate will practice excellent interpersonal and clinical care skill, and have a strong interest in participating in the education of medical students and pediatric residents. Opportunities for basic or clinical research are available.
