Position Summary

The UNM Department of Psychiatry andBehavioral Sciences is eager to put together the right package for an addiction psychiatrist withan interest in teaching, coupled with an interest in joining a team oftalented, caring and committed faculty members. Applications are being acceptedfor an academic faculty Addiction Psychiatrist, suitable for appointment at therank of Assistant, Associate, or full Professor, for a position in our Addiction Psychiatry Division. Thesuccessful candidate can take full advantage of opportunities available in ourvibrant and active academic community.

As anattending outpatient psychiatrist, the person selected will have a voice indeveloping the Addiction Program’s direction as well as opportunities formulticultural clinical care and scholarly and collaborative research activitiesacross the Health Sciences campus. There are many opportunities forprofessional development in leadership, administration, and education,including mentoring and supervision of medical students, residents, fellows,and trainees in multiple disciplines.
Salaryand academic rank are commensurate with experience and academic background.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Medical Doctor (or equivalent) degree;
  • Board certified or board eligible in Addiction Psychiatry;
  • Clinical experience, minimum one year;
  • Eligible for licensure in the State of New Mexico;
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Educational, teaching and supervision experience with residents, fellows and medical students;
  • Clinical leadership experience in an academic setting;
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
