Position Summary

The Department of Radiology at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center is seeking applicants for a full time Radiologist with specialization or focused interest in Emergency/Trauma Imaging. This is a faculty position that will report to the Department Chair. This position involves interpretation of CT, ultrasound, and radiography across all organ systems including neurologic, thoracic, musculoskeletal, vascular, genitourinary, gastrointestinal, gynecologic, and early obstetric. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to assist in other subspecialties according to their interest or expertise.

The clinical schedule will include rotating weeks through evening shifts (4:30pm - 12:00am) and days (8:00am - 4:30pm), with ample non-clinical time to allow for sleep recovery, excellent job satisfaction, and academic productivity.

It is expected that the successful candidate will have a responsibility for mentoring and teaching residents, fellows and medical students. Most daily clinical assignments will involve direct resident supervision. This person would also be expected to contribute to resident didactic education and other appropriate scholarly activities.

The Department of Radiology provides services for the UNM Hospital which is a 580-bed Level 1 Trauma and Tertiary Care Center; the UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center; the 71-bed Sandoval Regional Medical Center; and the 320-bed Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

The University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center is located in the heart of the Rio Grande Valley with stunning natural beauty. There are 300+ days of sunshine per year in Albuquerque and an ideal environment for outdoor activities.

Salary and academic rank for this position will be commensurate with the applicant’s experience and academic background.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • MD or equivalent

  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S.

  • Board certified or Board eligible in Diagnostic Radiology by contract start date

  • State of New Mexico Medical License (or eligibility) by contract start date

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous academic and radiology teaching experience.

  • Experience or additional training in Emergency Radiology

  • Fellowship in MSK, Neuroradiology, or Body with demonstrated ability to read across the broad spectrum of emergency imaging.
