|Position Summary||The Department of Surgery/Division of Ophthalmology at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center is expanding and seeks an outstanding Anterior Segment Surgeon at the level of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor. |
The successful candidate will have a busy clinical practice at the UNM Hospital Eye Clinic. Preference will be given to applicants who have completed fellowship with training in anterior segment surgery. Duties for the position include sharing responsibility with existing faculty for didactic and clinical training of residents in anterior segment surgery.
Rank and salary will be commensurate with experience and credentials. Individuals are expected to have a strong commitment to clinical care, teaching, and research in an academic setting.
The UNM Ophthalmology program covers all facets of Ophthalmologic surgery. As part of the UNM Health System, the Eye Clinic provides a rewarding mix of tertiary and indigent care.
New Mexico is known as the Land of Enchantment for good reason. Albuquerque is a culturally rich and naturally beautiful metropolitan area. The people are friendly and the area has a lively arts scene, close to the galleries of Santa Fe and Madrid NM. Albuquerque is an attractive area for outdoor enthusiasts; we have year-round good weather and easy access to the outdoors (the Sandia mountain wilderness is 20 minutes from UNM). There are two national laboratories nearby: Sandia and Los Alamos.
