Position Summary

TheUniversity of New Mexico (UNM) School of Medicine (SOM) Department of Surgery isseeking a board certified or board eligible urologic surgeon with expertise inFemale Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (FPMRS) to join theDepartment of Surgery. This position will be within the Division of Urology.Experience in FPMRS and minimally invasive surgical techniques is desirablepreferably having completed a Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgeryfellowship. This position is being recruited at an open rank, and open track;salary and rank commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The UNMDivision of Urology currently consists of fellowship-trained and specializedurologists within the fields of oncology, pediatrics, reconstruction (GURS),robotics, endourology and renal transplantation. Surgeons within the divisionprovide full urologic care to a variety of benign and malignant conditions.This position would work closely with the residency program. The UNMDivision of Urology and Department of Surgery boast a robust infrastructure ofservices and resources to help achieve academic goals, and leadershipopportunities are available.

UNMserves a large, medically complex population and is a consultative resource forthe State of New Mexico and the Four Corners region of the Southwest UnitedStates. Outpatientsurgical services are provided through the UNM Hospital, UNM Sandoval RegionalMedical Center, and the UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center (UNMCCC), the onlyNational Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated Cancer Center in a 500-mile radius. The UNM Health Science Center (HSC) is the largest academic health complex inthe state of New Mexico and is the only Level 1 trauma center. It is thestate’s only site for urologic residency training. Located on the University ofNew Mexico campus in beautiful Albuquerque, NM, the HSC combines its fourmission areas - educations, research, patient care and community outreach - toprovide New Mexicans with the highest level of health care.

NewMexico is known as the Land of Enchantment; the city of Albuquerque is abeautiful city with mountain to the east and a mesa to the west. It is idealfor outdoor activities and sports all year-round including running, hiking, bikingand skiing. The State of New Mexico is multicultural and diverse with excellentlocal cuisine, breathtaking sunsets, multiple cultural and historic sites,lakes, rivers, deserts and mountains.

Qualifications

MinimumQualifications:

  • Medical Doctor or equivalent
  • Board-certified/eligible In Urology through the American Board of Urology
  • Eligible for medical licensure in New Mexico
  • Eligible for State of New Mexico Board of Pharmacy certification
  • Eligible for federal DEA registration
  • Eligible to work in the U.S.

PreferredQualifications:

  • Expertise in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery
  • Fellowship trained
  • Interest and proficiency in management of complex female reconstructive techniques, Pelvic floor reconstructive techniques, voiding dysfunction, urinary incontinence
  • Interest and proficiency in minimally invasive surgical techniques, including robotic surgery
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities
