Position Summary

TheUniversity of New Mexico (UNM) School of Medicine (SOM) Department of Surgery isseeking a board certified or board eligible urologic surgeon with expertise inendo-urology/stone disease to join the Department of Surgery. This position is being recruited at an openrank and open track; salary and rank commensurate with qualifications andexperience.

TheUNM Division of Urology currently consists of fellowship-trained andspecialized urologists within the fields of oncology, pediatrics,reconstruction, robotics, endourology and renal transplantation. Surgeonswithin the division provide full urologic care to a variety of benign andmalignant conditions. This position would work closely with the residencyprogram. The UNM Division of Urology andDepartment of Surgery boasts a robust infrastructure of services and resourcesto help achieve academic goals, and leadership opportunities are available.

UNM serves alarge, medically complex population and is a consultative resource for theState of New Mexico and the Four Corners region of the Southwest United States. Outpatient surgical services areprovided through the UNM Hospital, UNM Sandoval Regional Medical Center, andthe UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center (UNMCCC), the only National CancerInstitute (NCI)-designated Cancer Center in a 500-mile radius. The UNM Health Science Center (HSC) is thelargest academic health complex in the state of New Mexico and is the onlyLevel 1 trauma center. It is the state’sonly site for urologic residency training. Located on the University of New Mexico campusin beautiful Albuquerque, NM, the HSC combines its four mission areas -education, research, patient care and community outreach - to provide NewMexicans with the highest level of health care.

New Mexicois known as the "Land of Enchantment", and the City of Albuquerque is abeautiful city with mountains to the east and a mesa to the west. It is ideal for outdoor activities and sportsall year-round including running, hiking, biking, and skiing. The State of New Mexico is multicultural anddiverse with excellent local cuisine, breathtaking sunsets, multiple culturaland historic sites, lakes, rivers, deserts, and mountains.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications for Position:

  • Medical Doctor or equivalent
  • Board-certified/board eligible In Urology through the American Board of Urology
  • Eligible for medical licensure in New Mexico
  • Eligible for State of New Mexico Board of Pharmacy certification
  • Eligible for federal DEA registration
  • Eligible to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications for Position:

  • Expertise in endourology, preferably fellowship trained.
  • Interest and proficiency in management of complex stone disease, with endoscopic techniques.
  • Interest and proficiency in minimally invasive surgical techniques, including robotic surgery.
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
