Position Summary

The University of New Mexico (UNM)School of Medicine (SOM) Department of Surgery is seeking a board certified orboard eligible urologic surgeon with expertise in General Urology to join theDepartment of Surgery. This positionwill be within the Division of Urology. Thisposition is being recruited at an open rank, and flex track; salary and rankcommensurate with qualifications and experience.

The UNM Division of Urology currentlyconsists of fellowship-trained and specialized urologists within the fields ofoncology, pediatrics, GU soft tissue reconstruction, robotics, reconstructiveurology and renal transplantation. Surgeonswithin the division provide full urologic care to a variety of benign andmalignant conditions. This positionwould work closely with the residency program. The UNM Division of Urology and Department of Surgery boasts a robustinfrastructure of services and resources to help achieve academic goals, andleadership opportunities are available.

UNM serves a large, medically complexpopulation and is a consultative resource for the State of New Mexico and theFour Corners region of the Southwest United States. Outpatient surgical services are providedthrough the UNM Hospital, UNM Sandoval Regional Medical Center, and the UNMComprehensive Cancer Center (UNMCCC), the only National Cancer Institute(NCI)-designated Cancer Center in a 500-mile radius. The UNM Health Science Center (HSC) is thelargest academic health complex in the State of New Mexico and is the onlyLevel 1 trauma center. It is the state’sonly site for urologic residency training. Located on the University of New Mexico campusin beautiful Albuquerque, NM, the HSC combines its four mission areas -educations, research, patient care and community outreach - to provide NewMexicans with the highest level of health care.

New Mexico is known as the Land ofEnchantment; the City of Albuquerque is a beautiful city with mountains to theeast and a mesa to the west. It is idealfor outdoor activities and sports all year-round including running, hiking,biking and skiing. The State of NewMexico is multicultural and diverse with excellent local cuisine, breathtakingsunsets, multiple cultural and historic sites, lakes, rivers, deserts andmountains.

Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications for Position:

  • Medical Doctor or equivalent
  • Board-certified/board eligible InUrology through the American Board of Urology
  • Eligible for medical licensure in NewMexico
  • Eligible for State of New MexicoBoard of Pharmacy certification
  • Eligible for a federal DEAregistration
  • Eligible to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications forPosition:

  • Completion of an ACGME UrologyResidency
  • Interest and proficiency inmanagement of complex general urologic disease including newer treatments.
  • Interest and proficiency in minimallyinvasive surgical techniques, including robotic surgery.
  • A demonstrated commitment todiversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working withbroadly diverse communities
