Position SummaryThe Center for Evolutionary and Theoretical Immunology (CETI) is an internationally recognized research center at UNM with a large and complex portfolio of externally funded projects, multi-institutional collaborations, and educational and outreach initiatives. 

The Operations Manager is critical to managing CETI’s administrative, financial, and operational needs, which include oversight of research grants, budget and fiscal management, personnel coordination, compliance with university and sponsor policies, reporting, event planning, and support for faculty and student research activities. The Operations Manager will also serve as a key liaison between CETI leadership, the College of Arts & Sciences, the Office of Sponsored Projects, collaborating institutions, and funding agencies.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 2 years of experience managing at least one of the following functional areas: fiscal services, administration and/or human resources AND 3 years of additional experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

•Demonstrated experience (10+ years) managing large, complex, externally funded research programs, preferably in a university or research center environment.
•Proven expertise in pre-award and post-award grant administration, including NIH and multi-institutional projects.
•Certification as a Certified Research Administrator (CRA) or equivalent.
•Experience serving as a primary administrative liaison with university leadership, collaborating institutions, and federal funding agencies.
•Proficiency in budget development, fiscal oversight of multimillion-dollar research portfolios, and compliance with federal, state, and university regulations.
•Strong project management skills with a record of organizing interdisciplinary research initiatives, scientific conferences, seminar series, and external advisory board meetings.
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing programmatic reports for funding bodies and facilitating stakeholder communication.
•Demonstrated ability to support and foster faculty and student research, including mentoring on grant proposal preparation and navigating institutional processes.
•Commitment to advancing collaborative, inclusive, and service-oriented administrative practices.
•Active membership in professional research administration or research development organizations (e.g., NCURA, NORDP).
