Position Summary

As the Operations Manager for the Department of Surgery, youwill be at the heart of our daily operations, ensuring smooth departmentalcoordination, oversee daily operations, improve organizational processes,manage staff, and lead process improvements and re-engineering efforts foradministrative and clinical workflows. This pivotal role combines strategicoversight with hands-on leadership to drive quality, efficiency, and continuousimprovement across the organization.

The Operations Manager provides direct support to theDepartment Administrator and will be handling contracts and agreements, FIBCIs,faculty contracts, faculty recruitment initiatives, faculty onboarding andassisting the Department Administrator in the day-to-day transactional items ofthe department. This position will also provide operational support for therevenue cycle and financials as it relates to contracts.

The successful candidate will be highly reliable, will workproductively both independently and as part of a team, will demonstrate acustomer service-oriented approach, and will exhibit pride in providingtop-quality service and an outstanding work product.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 2 years of experience managing at least one of the following functional areas: fiscal services, administration and/or human resources AND 3 years of additional experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of faculty and/or staff hiring procedures within an academic institution
  • Knowledge and experience with UNM systems; UNMJobs, UNM HR Reports, Banner and MyReports
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly skilled at drafting correspondence, with solid knowledge of grammar, punctuation, and spelling
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple demands in a busy environment
  • Demonstrable experience with MS Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and cloud-based file management
  • Experienced in supervising a team of staff members that provide a range of administrative and clerical support
  • Unwavering commitment to producing a high-quality work product, with careful attention to detail
