Position Summary

At the direction of the Custodian of Public Records, the paralegal will compile, review and organize records concerning the UNM Health Sciences Center pursuant to the New Mexico Inspection of Public Records Act (IPRA). The paralegal will assist with the daily management of the online public records portal and will work closely with UNM legal counsel, HSC faculty, staff and administrators in responding to IPRA requests.

Conditions of Employment
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 7 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Paralegal certification, Associate's degree and/or Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience with the New Mexico Inspection of Public Records Act (IPRA).
  • Experience working within a governmental or public entity or public institution of higher education.
  • Experience compiling, reviewing, redacting and producing records for inspection.
  • Highly skilled in Adobe PDF, Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong attention to details and ability to draft concise and accurate letters, emails and other communications.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and deliver consistent, timely and quality work.
