Position Summary

Parking and Transportation Services(PATS) is seeking a detail-oriented individual with strong customer serviceskills to serve as a Parking Enforcement Officer. The role involves providingparking and campus information, communicating, and enforcing parking rules andregulations, and ensuring a safe and organized parking environment across UNMcampuses.

The ideal candidate will possessexcellent communication and interpersonal skills, thrive in public-facingroles, and be comfortable working outdoors in a physically active environment.This individual must be a team player and demonstrate the ability to understandand apply policies, procedures, and regulations relevant to the position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Communicate parking regulations and campus information effectively to students, staff, faculty, and visitors.
  • Monitor campus parking facilities for safety concerns, report unusual activity, and assist with traffic control as needed.
  • Patrol parking lots and structures to ensure compliance with parking rules and report unsafe conditions.
  • Issue citations for parking violations, apply vehicle boots, and coordinate towing services when necessary.
  • Support special event parking operations, including traffic and crowd control activities.

Requirements:

  • Ability to work outdoors, standing and/or walking for at least 8 hours per day.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A commitment to providing excellent customer service.
  • Capability to read, interpret, and apply policies, procedures, and regulations.

Conditions of Employment
  • Possession of a valid New Mexico driver's license is a requirement for this job.
  • All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the CWA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED; no previous experience required.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred QualificationsCustomer Service Experience: Proven ability to work effectively with a diverse group of customers, ensuring a positive and inclusive experience.
Communication Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills, as demonstrated through the cover letter and interview process.
Technical Proficiency: Experience using computerized equipment and technology in a workplace setting.
