Position Summary

The University of New Mexico Student Health & Counseling clinic (SHAC) is recruiting for a knowledgeable, detail-oriented ON-CALL Pharmacy Tech to work in the SHAC Pharmacy.

The Student Health & Counseling Center is located at the center of campus. The clinic provides comprehensive primary and mental health services and has a laboratory, x-ray, pharmacy, physical therapy, massage, acupuncture, case management, and health promotions on site. Other medical services provided are same day appointments, travel medicine, immunizations, and sports medicine.

This position provides technical and administrative assistance in the day-to-day activities of a designated pharmacy operation. Assists in the dispensing of prescription pharmaceuticals, fills routine orders for non-prescription pharmaceuticals, and provides direct customer assistance and routine problem resolution to patients dropping off and picking up prescriptions. Coordinates the billing, cash management, and fiscal tracking operations of the pharmacy, and oversee inventory and data management activities in support of pharmacy operations.

Conditions of Employment
  • Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
  • Must maintain certification status.
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; no previous experience required. Certification/Licensure: National certification as Pharmacy Technician; Licensed with the NM Board of Pharmacy.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

  • Retail Pharmacy experience is preferred
