Applications are invited for a full-time 12-month, Assistant Professor in-person faculty position in a 3-year entry-level DPT program (http://orthopaedics.unm.edu/pt/), with eleven core faculty positions and a small, culturally diverse student body (30 students per class).

Faculty responsibilities of the successful candidate include:

1. Teaching in the following areas:

• Components of the musculoskeletal curriculum including therapeutic exercise & biophysical agents
• Human Gross Anatomy (including cadaver dissection lab)
• Teaching in other areas of the DPT curriculum dependent on need and areas of expertise (e.g. Health, Wellness, and Fitness; Gender Health; Foundations of Physical Therapy)
  

1. Scholarly activity
2. Service (e.g. university, community outreach, clinical practice, professional service)
3. Student advisement and mentorship
4. Faculty-related administrative tasks (as assigned)
   

Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. The position requires an educator who is flexible, innovative, and collaborative to fulfill the responsibilities in this learner-centered entry level DPT program.

The UNM Division of Physical Therapy is located in the culturally diverse city of Albuquerque which lies in the high desert ecosystem in central New Mexico. The city straddles the Rio Grande River and is bordered by the Sandia Mountains on the East and a string of five inactive volcanoes on the West. A number of Native American Reservations and Pueblos exist in or near the city. Besides being renowned for the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, numerous hiking and biking trails are within easy access and river rafting and skiing are just around the corner. The University of New Mexico is a federally designated Hispanic Serving Research University and accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. The Physical Therapy program has been a CAPTE accredited program since its inception in 1974. The School of Medicine has state-of-the-art resources including: up-to-date contemporary classrooms, interprofessional healthcare simulation center, a human gross anatomy lab equipped with downdraft tables, a self-contained human donor program, and a newly renovated Gait and Motion Analysis Lab for research and clinical use.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Current physical therapist license in good standing or eligibility to apply for a license to practice in the state of New Mexico
• Three years clinical experience
• Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Entry level DPT or BS/MS PT with transitional DPT (earned or in process with completion within 2 years)
• Academic doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, DSc) (earned or in process)
• Teaching experience compatible with the needs of the physical therapy division (musculoskeletal interventions and human gross anatomy with dissection)
• Evidence of clinical experience in areas of teaching needs (list years and percent effort and caseload in musculoskeletal content)
• Evidence of scholarship
• Relevant additional education (e.g., fellowship, residency, related degree)
• Earned board certification in area of teaching
• Evidence of professional service
• A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
