Position Summary

Under the close mentorship of professional staff, the Universityof New Mexico Information Technologies (IT) is seeking a motivated, team-oriented,individual to join the IT Business Operations team as a ProfessionalIntern. This position will provide entrylevel professional services to include support of day to day operatingactivities, basic accounting functions, budgeting, procurement and accountspayable activities, inventory management, and completion of assignedprojects. This individual will also beinvolved in the development and implementation of internal processes andprocedures, and will provide daily business operations support to IT SoftwareDistribution. This position involves a high degree of interaction withstaff at all levels of the organization, which requires strong communicationand excellent customer service skills. Additionally, candidates must possess theability to work independently when necessary, have the knowledge and ability todevelop processes, strong Microsoft Excel skills, and great attention todetail.

Conditions of Employment
  • Must present transcripts prior to a formal offer being extended.
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
  • This is a fixed-term position, typically up to 24 months.
Minimum Qualifications

Must have obtained a Bachelor's or higher level degree no more than 24 months prior to the date of hire OR if the Bachelor's (or higher level) degree was obtained more than 24 months prior to the date of hire, the individual must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor's (or higher level) degree program; no previous work experience required.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative in providing new ideas to improve process efficiencies.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in working with MS Excel.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
