Position Summary

The Center for Participatory Research seeks a Program Coordinator. Exciting opportunity for program coordinator to work within vibrant Center for Participatory Research in the newest UNM Health Sciences College of Population Health. Position responsible for supporting and helping to develop NIH grants, foundation and tribal grants and contracts; collaborating with local, tribal, and national partners; and supporting community engaged research. We welcome avid learners who are interested in the entire process of community based participatory research towards goals of reducing social and health inequities.

The Primary functions and responsibilities are split amongst the following categories:

Community Liaison

  • Serves as primary liaison for the University with tribal, and other local, national and international partners related to research and evaluation activities.
  • Coordinates meetings and events of community and academic partners
  • Coordinates with community partners regarding research grants, contracts & project timelines

Admin / Financial

  • Responsible for research coordination of daily research project tasks, and administrative functions such as documenting / drafting forms, creating logs, maintaining records of reimbursements and expenditures, and providing day to day problem solving on program related issues.
  • Supports post-award and other fiscal activity, including purchasing, budget planning, and coordination with departmental accountants.
  • Participates in the development of operating goals, objectives, and procedures for the Center

Graphic Design

  • Creates and maintains a range of promotional, educational, and informational presentations including posters, brochures, emails, website links, social media marketing, and infographics for the Center.

· Helps market and recruit for initiatives by creating and maintaining participant information from research and program events.

Assisting in Research Efforts

  • Assists in development of research grants/contracts and other sponsored programs, special projects, and other initiatives
  • Organizes grant documents and reports to ensure compliance with IRB and funder requirements.
  • Supports grant and resource development for further research and program activities.
  • Other research activities as interested.

  • This position is represented by a labor union and is subject to the terms and conditions of the USUNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • If this position is assigned to the Athletics Department, either administratively or functionally, compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations is required.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in grants and subawards
  • 2 or more years of experience with Banner, MyReports, and Pcards.
  • Experience with academic event planning and coordinating.
  • Experience working with and managing national and international collaborative efforts.
  • Experience with creation of effective marketing materials, including posters, brochures, emails, website design, social media marketing, and brand building.
  • Experience with proofreading, editing, submitting academic articles and/or books.
  • Knowledge of Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc), OneDrive, Endnote or related software and willingness to learn ATLAS.ti, SPSS or other data analysis software.
  • Experience working with UNM HRPO IRB system and submitting IRB applications and/or reports to tribal IRBs.
  • Bilingual in English & Spanish
