Position Summary

The College of Education and Human Sciences (COEHS) seeks applicants for the Program Coordinator position to support the Institute for American Indian Education (IAIE). IAIE was originally created in 2014 and has expanded in size as well as developed varies projects, including: the Indigenous Education Curriculum Fair, the Indigenous Education Research Conference, Summits, Brown Bag Series, and professional development events. IAIE’s mission is to support community intergenerational well-being and educational outcomes of Indigenous Peoples by cultivating the quality of educational professionals through community engagement with Native Nations and collaborative partnerships with educational stakeholders. IAIE is funded via external grants and awards as well as RPSP funding.

The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for:

  • Oversees a range of specialized administrative support for the Institute for American Indian Education Program. Serves as the main point of contact with internal and external constituencies for matters concerning the program, outreach, and community support.
  • Provide community outreach and program planning and implementation support including marketing, event and meeting planning and coordination, and general correspondence.
  • Monitors, reconciles, and assists with fiscal administration for the program including; budgets, grants, contracts, payroll, travel, and purchasing.
  • Coordinates the development and distribution of materials, reports, and communications to internal and external stakeholders. Maintains records and prepares reports and project summaries.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Conditions of Employment
  • If this position is assigned to the Athletics Department, either administratively or functionally, compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations is required.

  • All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the US-UNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities in the state of New MexicoStrong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Ability to interact with students, faculty and/or staff in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control procedures.
  • Knowledge of communication principles, media, and marketing techniques.
  • Ability to gather and analyze statistical data
