Position Summary

This position works with the Program Manager to implement a large, supported NSF funded Sustainable Regional Systems Transformation Network (TN). The TN is a partnership between eight Western U.S. universities with over 50 partner organizations representing Tribal partners, governmental and non-governmental organizations. Its goal is to build capacity for adaptations and guided transformations towards sustainable regional systems through innovative and equitable solutions.
The Project Coordinator plays a key support role in the day-to-day fiscal, administrative, and operational activities of the TN. This includes a number of roles ranging from assisting with grant support and administration to event coordination, meeting logistics, and program marketing.

  • Provides administrative support in the development, implementation, and marketing of the UNM Transformation Network (TN).
  • Serves as a point of contact between UNM TN students, faculty, staff, other departments, and external TN partners on day-to-day programmatic, operational, and administrative matters.
  • Supports the TN Program manager in coordinating communication regarding TN administration and reporting requirements to internal and external TN-funded research teams and partners.
  • Writes, edits, and coordinates the development of promotional materials, newsletters, pamphlets, infographics and/or brochures, that detail the efforts of the TN.
  • Coordinates external online communications platforms for the TN, including the public facing website, social media (Instagram/Facebook), listservs, etc.
  • Maintains program/project records, research information and gathers and computes various data; prepares special and/or one-time reports, summaries, or replies to inquiries, selecting relevant data from a variety of sources.
  • Provides clerical and administrative support, including creating, typing, and editing of program correspondence, purchasing documentation, reports, brochures, reimbursements, travel support and other grant-related documentation.
  • Coordinates activities for TN graduate students engaged in TN-funded research projects and creates opportunities for engagement between students and faculty.
  • May supervise student employees, volunteers and/or interns; may lead lower-graded staff.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

  • If this position is assigned to the Athletics Department, either administratively or functionally, compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations is required.

  • All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the US-UNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with web design and content management.
  • Experience with social media and other forms of marketing and promotion.
