| Position Summary | The University of New Mexico, College of Population Health (COPH) invites applications for a Program Specialist. In this position, the employee will support a research team at the Center for Participatory Research (CPR), working part-time.The program specialist will assist the Principal Investigator and the team in a research study funded by the National Institutes of Health in partnership with six tribal community partners. Responsibilities will include the planning and coordination in the implementation of a family prevention program that is facilitated by tribal research teams. The program specialist will oversee and administer all facets of the day-to-day operations and activities related to the position. Such as complete all purchases for the research team, including participant incentives, travel purchases, supplies, and other expenditures. This responsibility includes working with the COPH research office, the accounting department and purchasing department within the University, adhering to the department’s protocols and processes, and managing and reconciling P-card transactions. This position will work within these procedures to set up purchase orders to provide reimbursement, honoraria, and stipends for non-employees/community members. The program specialist will also take on the role of planning travel for employees and non-employees. Coordinating events is expected as well, which includes organizing and planning the event space, set up, and catering, and working with multiple vendors and various attendees. Other typical responsibilities include attending research meetings and taking verbatim notes, making edits to the CPR website, providing technical guidance for research meetings or events, organizing meetings, provide day-to-day problem solving as necessary, and other miscellaneous support tasks as needed. The person’s role must work independently and with the team; able to adapt to change, able to organize and plan multiple events; able to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments; well-versed in basic technology including Zoom, Google suite, and Microsoft suite and willingness to learn new computer programs (Miro, WordPress, Chrome River, Cascade, etc.); has strong verbal and written communication skills; is detailed oriented and ability to problem solve; and has an interest in community-engaged research and health equity. The COPH at the University of New Mexico’s Health Sciences Center, serves New Mexico’s communities, government and non-profit agencies, businesses and health–related organizations. | Minimum Qualifications | High school diploma or GED; at least 6 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. |
