Position Summary

The UNM Department of Pediatrics is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented, and organized individual to join their Office of Research team as a Program Specialist. The selected individual will oversee various administrative and regulatory support activities related to Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) funded NOWS-NM Training Initiative: Optimizing Care for Neonates at Risk for Opiate Withdrawal Syndrome" project, as well as coordinate the NIH and industry sponsored Chronic Kidney Disease studies being conducted in the Peds Nephrology Division.

SAMHSA Project management duties and responsibilities include scheduling, conducting and documenting mandatory project meetings with both the internal study team and the project sites, responsible for tracking project deliverables and timelines, and preparing reports to funders and preparing, submitting and maintaining IRB records.

Peds Nephrology coordination duties includes study recruitment and screening, conducting study visits and study procedures per protocol requirements, preparing and submitting IRB records, attend sponsor mandated meetings and act as a liaison between PI, Sponsor and both local and central IRBs.

  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 6 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Research and QI project management experience
  • Research Coordination - experience conducting study visits, study procedures, data entry and management
  • Local and Central IRB - experience with both Central and Local IRB submissions and requirements, responsible for maintaining project regulatory binders.
  • Spanish speaker
  • Pediatric Phlebotomy experience
