Position Summary

The Developmental Care Program within the Division of Neonatology has an exciting opportunity for an on-call Program Therapist to join our team and work in a collegial atmosphere and an inter-professional environment. We are a multidisciplinary team with an expertise in NICU developmental care and in the sequela of medical diagnoses as they pertain to developmental outcomes for babies born preterm. Our team helps set the stage for how parents begin their parenting roles that can last a lifetime and we have a specialized focus on the family as the current and future "growers" and "nurturers" of the infants in our unit. Our practices are consistent with current evidence based knowledge and we have an interest in pursuing research opportunities and activities that will continue to promote best practices in this field.

The Program Therapist will provide comprehensive services, including assessment, treatment planning, and intervention services to ill and/or developmentally high-risk newborns and families in a newborn intensive care environment, home environment and at our follow up clinic and provides evaluations and direct therapeutic services to high-risk newborns and their families within a specified area of professional expertise.

Conditions of Employment

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; no previous experience required.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Case Management experience
  • Familiarity with NM CARA plans of care
  • Familiarity with community resources including home visiting and early intervention throughout the State
  • Experience working in the NM FIT early intervention system
  • Experience working in a NICU setting
  • Bilingual skills (English/Spanish)
