Position Summary

Under direct supervision, the Programmer Analyst 1 provides entry-level professional support in areas of moderate to advanced complexity, including spatial analysis, modeling, and geospatial systems research, to help evaluate business objectives, define user requirements, and implement and maintain custom web-mapping and desktop software applications. This role assists in gathering technical information, drafting work requirements, and contributing to the development of program specifications.
Working closely with senior technical staff, the analyst helps analyze applications, apply upgrades, and maintain documentation, while writing, testing, and troubleshooting code of routine to moderate complexity. The position also supports the maintenance of established applications, assist in programming tasks during system implementation and ongoing operations, and may provide functional guidance to support staff and/or student employees.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 6 months of progressively responsible experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution and/or experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified may be interchangeable on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing GIS Web Mapping sites using Esri technology and free and open source technology
  • Demonstrated advanced geospatial and statistical data analysis skills
  • Must be proficient in the use of python, JavaScript, CSS, and HTML; PostgreSQL,MySQL, and SQL oracle; Linux Red Hat and Ubuntu
