Job Description

Programmer Analyst 1

Requisition IDreq6494
Working TitleProgrammer Analyst 1
Position Grade12
Position Summary

The University of New Mexico’s Custom and Collaborative Applications Support Team in the UNM IT Applications division is seeking a resourceful, flexible, and motivated individual to fill a Programmer Analyst 1 position.

IT Applications is looking for individuals with a demonstrated aptitude for learning new tools and technologies, an intellectual curiosity, and a customer service mentality. The successful candidate will support the mission of IT by providing effective and efficient information technologies and services to advance UNM’s educational, research and service missions (see http://cio.unm.edu/strategic-plan/2018-2020-strategic-plan-.pdf).

The Custom and Collaborative Applications Support Team in the Applications division is responsible for administering and supporting a wide variety of applications, including in-house developed web applications like MyUNM, as well as commercial products that support our own business functions (Cherwell Service Management, Pinnacle Telemanagement) as well as those of the core University areas (LoboTime, Cascade Content Management System, cPanel Web Hosting Platform).

As such, while a portion of the primary duties of this position will be to work directly with end-users and customers to resolve issues and fulfill requests, we seek individuals who can help us achieve our mission. This means finding individuals who share our guiding principles and can put them to work in delivering secure, accessible, reliable, innovative, and effective applications to the University. Beyond simply supporting applications, we strive to proactively improve them and engage with our partners in the University Community to pioneer new ways to achieve the University’s goals (see http://strategy.unm.edu).

The Custom and Collaborative Applications Support Team is a small team (5 members) within Information Technologies, the central IT department at UNM. We often provide support services directly to end-users campus-wide (students, faculty, and staff), as well as to other specific UNM departmental customers (HR, Enrollment Management, Payroll, Finance). We also participate in improving processes and innovating our applications, not only by developing engineered fixes to systemic issues but by providing insight into the needs of our internal business partners and advance solutions.

The environment can be very dynamic, sometimes requiring fast-paced collaboration with other team members or IT staff, at others times requiring self-paced independent research and development. In general, current and past members of the team with an aptitude and willingness to learn new technologies have been the most successful.

Overall, we provides a high level of excellent service and support to the UNM community.
