Position Summary

Information Technologies Data and Reporting Applications Team (DART) is looking for candidates to fill a Programmer Analyst 2 to develop and support reporting and analytics for the Faculty Contracts business unit. This is an IT technical reporting and analytics position seated within the business office. Banner knowledge strong SQL, and analytics skills are required for developing and supporting the departments compliance, analytics, and decision support, data and reporting requirements.

This technical lead position is responsible for collecting and documenting Faculty Contracts reporting and analytics requirements, and for the software development and support lifecycle for those reporting products. This role works closely with the business unit, and IT’s data architects, and data engineers. Complies with IT standards and procedures to ensure data is managed consistently and is properly integrated within the approved reporting solutions. This position is responsible for ensuring Faculty Contracts reporting and analytics user interfaces, reports, and visualizations are compatible with the upgrades and changes within the reporting infrastructure’s tools and databases.

The successful candidate will support the mission of IT by providing high quality, professional IT services and timely response and solutions to customer requests, and complies with IT standards procedures for design, development, and documentation.

The candidate will be expected to work on assignments of greater complexity with minimal supervision individually and within teams, or lead the work assignments of other information technology professionals. Will serve as a liaison to end-users concerning requests, usage, standards, security and other development and production matters. Develops work estimates for application development and upgrades to existing systems. In addition, the successful candidate must be adept at working on multiple projects and/or operational requests at a time. This position provides on-call support for Faculty Contracts and participates in the on-call rotation for the ERP reporting infrastructure.

Duties:

  • IT Technical Lead role within a core department.
  • Work independently or within a group to gather and document Faculty Contracts reporting and analytics requirements.
  • Design, develop, implement and maintain Faculty Contracts reporting and analytics, reporting interfaces and portals.
  • Work with IT and other core department, Programmers, Data Architects and Data Engineers to design and implement data models and ETL procedures that use data from internal and external sources required for Faculty Contract reporting.
  • Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders in ensuring data quality and consistency.
  • Provide training and support to Faculty Contracts and their report users for Faculty Contracts reports, dashboards, and portals.
  • Work with IT to monitor and tune reports, database objects.
  • Leverage best practices, effective technologies, and IT tools and standards to design and extend reporting, analytics, data marts, meta data, and data models when needed.
  • Ensure all reporting objects and codes are maintained in the IT version control system.
  • Provides daily and on-call support.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 1 year of progressively responsible experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Higher education and/or experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s degree or 5+ years of experience in an analytical related field, including information technology, science, and engineering discipline
    • Experience with Banner and/or the Ellucian ODS
    • Experience with databases such as Oracle, SQL Server 2014+, or cloud platforms
    • Experience developing, debugging and tuning complex PL SQL or SQL packages stored procedures, functions, and other database objects
    • Experience testing for quality assurance, utilizing tools for evaluating and tuning reports and queries, views, functions, and queries and packages
    • Proficiency with relational and dimensional data models and their applications
    • Experience with Tableau, Power BI, Information Builders -WebFOCUS, or other reporting and analytical tools
    • Experience with Git or other version control tools or methods
    • Experience with participating and leading business and technical communication for requirements gathering
    • Experience leading small to medium sized (2000 hrs.) complex projects that include business and technical personnel from multiple business areas
