|Position Summary|| |
A full-time programmer position is currently available in Dr. Kent Kiehl’s laboratory at the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, New Mexico. The programmer will be responsible for developing advanced and novel computational tools for the analysis of images. Images consist of video frames from patient interviews and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) data. We are interested in capturing all available details from the video frames (i.e., facial expression, eye position, pupil size) and we also wish to decode audio (i.e., speech intonation, speech-to-text for word content analyses). Data curated from the video archive and MRI archive will be used to predict future outcomes using machine/deep learning. The programmer will assist in preparing papers for publications, presentations, conferences and workshops.
Preference will be given to candidates with; experience using statistical methods and statistical software; knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures of basic medical and/or clinical research; experience with relevant computer software programs; experience working in a UNIX environment; familiarity with neuroanatomy, neurophysiology and neuroimaging techniques and analyses; experience with computational engineering and computational neuroscience, programming experience, expertise with MRI data analysis software, e.g. AFNI, SPM and/or FSL.

Bachelor's degree; at least 2 years of progressively responsible experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Higher education and/or experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.
· Degree in Biomedical Engineering, Computational Neuroscience, Computer Science or related field with 1-4 years’ experience in the field.
· Knowledge of programming languages e.g. Matlab, Python, R, C, C++
