|Position Summary||UNM Student Health &Counseling (SHAC) is recruiting 0.5 FTE (Half-Time) Psychiatrist to cover approximately3 days a week providing direct patient care at the student clinic. Thisindividual will provide care to undergraduate, graduate, and professionalstudents and collaborate with the SHAC multi-disciplinary health and wellnessteams. Diagnostic and medication evaluations and medication follow-ups withreferral to primary care upon stabilization; Consultation and Outreach to thecommunity entails psycho-education about the issues and conditions that may beaffecting them and treatment options. Opportunities for a leadership role may be available.|
This position involves attendanceat clinical meetings, intermittent on-call duties, and facilitatinghospitalizations. This provider will also supervise Psychiatry Residents inrotation at SHAC. Some in-house educational activities on psychiatric topicsare expected. Work flow may vary depending on needs at peak points during theacademic year and in the summer. Credentialing and Peer Review duties arerequired.
UNM Student Health & Counseling is a AAAHC accredited one-stop healthservice available to approximately 24,000+ currently enrolled UNM students.SHAC is located in the center of campus across from the Student Union Building.It is open 8am-5pm, Monday-Thursday and 9am-5pm on Fridays, and closed on allUNM holidays. Services include: counseling and testing services, medicalappointments (advanced and same-day), pharmacy, women's and men's health,allergy and immunization, medical specialty clinics, physical therapy, lab andx-ray, travel health clinic, as well as health education and prevention.
|Conditions of Employment|
Medical doctor; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified, which may include residency in a directly related medical specialty.Certification/LicensureState of New Mexico and Federal DEA Certification; Current licensure in designated area of Medical Subspecialty; Board certified or eligible for Board certification in designated area of Medical Subspecialty.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
|Preferred Qualifications||· Board eligible or certified in Psychiatry in New Mexico |
· Experience treating older adolescents, and adults
· Experience treating patients of varying ethnicities, and socioeconomic levels
· Experience working in a healthcare system or a university health or counseling center
· Experience working with a team of behavioral health and medical providers
· Expertise in medication management of Mood, Anxiety, Attentional and Thought disorders
· Experience with addiction treatment
Experience with promotion of health and wellness
· Proven ability to present on psychiatric topics to groups of varying size
· Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
Experience with Tele-Psychiatry
Experience in supervision of residents
Experience in agency leadership
