Position Summary | The UNM Health SciencesMarketing and Communication team is looking for a dynamic, creative, andorganized content creator. Selected candidate will primarily contribute strongstorytelling through print and photos to the UNM Health Sciences Newsroom,which is our main hub for external communications to the public and news media. We’re looking for someone who knows howto network to generate story ideas across our clinical, research, and academicmission areas. The selected applicant should be passionate about storytellingto spotlight the many ways the UNM Health Sciences Center adds value for ourstudents, patients, learners, employees, and the communities we serve. Thisposition is a great fit for a strong writer who has interest in health care andhigher education topics! Some skill sets we’re lookingfor include: * Demonstrated ability togenerate story ideas, conduct interviews and write news-style articles ondiverse subjects on tight deadlines. * Strong copy-editing skills. * Knowledge of journalismprinciples, especially with regard to accuracy, fairness, ethics, and balance. * Ability to adapt material tosuit the needs of the target audience while maintaining a coherent andappropriate style and tone. * Working familiarity with theAssociate Press Stylebook. * Strong interpersonalcommunication skills and the ability to work effectively with faculty, staff,students, community members, and a wide range of stakeholders. * A team player who thrivesworking in team settings and with others. Applicants should submit at minimum of two writing samples displayingproficient journalism. |

Minimum Qualifications | Bachelor's degree; at least 6 months of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. |
Preferred Qualifications | * Bachelor’s Degree preferablyin Journalism, Communications, or a related field. * Proficient in videography,photography, non-linear video editing, and photo-editing. * Experience in health careand/or higher education communications. |
