Position Summary

Student Health and Counseling (SHAC), at the University of New Mexico, is seeking a Radiology Tech I position.

As part of its stated mission, SHAC explicitly holds itself accountable to having a measurable impact on student success and wellness. Services are designed with a focus on busy students for whom the timely access of medical and counseling services for both acute and chronic conditions can make a difference in academic success. SHAC offers affordable, comprehensive and integrated care that is not duplicated or readily available elsewhere. Services offered include: Counseling and Psychiatry, Health Education, General Medical, Women’s and Men’s Health, Allergy and Immunization, Sports Medicine, Physical Therapy, Massage Services, Acupuncture, Nutrition, Pharmacy, Lab, and X-ray.

Under general supervision, operates a state of the art X-Ray equipment following prescribed techniques in administering general and specific x-rays. In addition, may perform general office duties such as prior authorizations. SHAC performs about 700 x-rays a year. The Clinic is open Monday through Friday and follows the Academic year schedule (closed for Winter break).

Conditions of Employment
  • CPR Certified.
  • May be required to submit to annual TB and rubella screening.
  • UNM will provide Hepatitis vaccination, candidate may decline vaccination through declination form or may provide record of vaccination from previous employer.
  • State of New Mexico Licensure.
  • Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 6 months of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Certification/Licensure: American Registry of Radiologic Technology License.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum of three years of Radiology experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Ability to function independently
  • Good computer skills
  • Ability to perform administrative/office duties such as prior authorizations
  • Familiar with newer "Digital" X-Ray equipment
  • Ability to communicate well and follow-up with Medical staff
