Position Summary

The Center for Development and Disability (CDD), established in 1990, is New Mexico's University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities Education, Research and Service. These centers, authorized by the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act, build the capacities of states and communities to respond to the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.

CDD's Family and Community Partnerships Division - Partners for Employment (PFE) are seeking to hire multiple Education Specialists to work in communities throughout New Mexico to coordinate and facilitate trainings, regional meetings and provide technical assistance in support of PFE's mission to advance supported employment best practices for persons with intellectual/developmental disabilities.

The Education Specialist will work with community stakeholders to assess training and technical assistance needs, create training and educational resources, disseminate information, coordinate and implement online and in-person training events.

The Education Specialists will need to possess strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in diverse communities. Experience leading and facilitating community teams and providing training and technical assistance to individuals with diverse levels of technical skill is essential to this position.

The individuals hired for this position will need to be a self-starter with the ability to manage multiple projects, shifting priorities and meet monthly reporting deadlines. Project management, organization and coordination skills are strongly desired.

Knowledge of the resources and services available to youth and adults with disabilities in New Mexico is preferred. Familiarity with supported employment and School-to-Work best practices is also preferred.

The option for a successful candidate to telecommute from the northern or southern regions of the state will be considered.

This position requires regular statewide travel.

Conditions of Employment
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Additional RequirementsThe program is recruiting individuals for telecommuting positions in the northern and southern regions of the state and will require travel.
