Position Summary

The University of New Mexico is seeking an experienced leader with energy and vision to serve on a forward-looking enrollment management team as University Registrar. The successful candidate will be eager to discover and apply student-focused cutting-edge technology solutions to achieve significant accomplishments in the fiscally challenging higher education environment.

The Registrar has the overall responsibility for the administration and management of the Office of the Registrar. The position reports to the Vice President for Enrollment Management and leads a team of eighteen (18) staff, and guides his/her colleagues in the planning and delivery of services and programs related to student records, enrollment, degree audit, residency determination, athletic eligibility, development of the schedule of classes, course and room scheduling, grade processing, transcript delivery, graduation, and the integrity of student information data.

The University Registrar collaborates closely with the other units of the Division of Enrollment Management and a range of administrative and academic units. The University Registrar will serve a key position to help the University to reach enrollment goals.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in evaluating, selecting, and implementingemerging technologies that support the processes within the Office of the Registraras well as the goals and priorities of the Division of Enrollment Managementand university.
  • Knowledge of student transactional and reporting systems usedat the University of New Mexico: Ellucian Banner, Adastra, Kuali, CollegeScheduler, Uachieve, OnBase, National Student Clearing House (NSC), MS Officeproducts, TIBCO WebFocus.
  • Ability to develop internal processes, policies andprocedures to continuously improve the services provided by the Office of theRegistrar.
  • Experience working and engaging with faculty and facultycommittees to develop new and refined procedures, review appeals, and carry outdecisions.
  • Experience working and engaging with Information Technology(IT) to identify and implement new software and technologies.
  • Knowledge of setting strategicdirection, priorities and goals for the Office of the Registrar, makingdata-informed proposals and decisions, linking budgets and expenditures tomeasurable outcomes while seeking both standard and creative ways to contributeto the achievement of strategic goals of the office, the division, and theuniversity.
  • Knowledge of state and federal reporting, privacy, and data laws andrequirements.
  • Experience as a university data custodian for studentacademic records with responsibility for setting and implementing appropriateplanning, systems review, and policy-level standards.
