Position Summary

The University of New Mexico, Health Sciences Center, Department of Internal Medicine is seeking part-time BC/BE Internal Medicine trained physicians to join the QIHA ECHO project in beautiful Albuquerque, NM. UNM HSC is the only academic medical center and is the primary teaching hospital in New Mexico. We are the only Level I trauma center in the state and we provide care for over 200,000 New Mexicans.

Project ECHO (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes) is a collaborative model of medical education and care management that empowers clinicians everywhere to provide better care to more people, right where they live. It dramatically increases access to specialty treatment in rural and underserved areas by providing front-line clinicians with the knowledge and support they need to manage patients with complex conditions. As the ECHO model expands, it is helping to address some of the healthcare system’s most intractable problems, including inadequate or disparities in access to care, rising costs, systemic inefficiencies, and unequal or slow diffusion of best practices.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • MD or DO;
  • BC or BE in General Internal Medicine or Family Medicine by date of hire; and
  • Must be eligible to work in US.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Training and education in Geriatrics;

  • Experience in research related to nursing facilities quality improvement and hospital avoidance;

  • Experience in working with collaborators across disciplines;

  • Interest in caring for underserved population including the elderly.
