The Center for Global Health, within the Department of Internal Medicine, is seeking a term senior technician with experience in a wide array of animal techniques, including laboratory animal handling, rodent trapping, and field work. In addition, laboratory skills, including subcloning, tissue culture, Q-PCR, ELISAs, diagnostics development, western blots, and neutralizing antibody assays are needed. The technician will also be responsible for lab organization and ordering procedures. BSL-3 experience is preferred.
The lab focuses on basic immunology, with an emphasis on immunity to emerging and re-emerging viral pathogens, as there are few treatments or vaccines available for many of these viruses. Current projects in the lab include development and testing of vaccines that generate cross-reactive immune responses against multiple viruses and immunity against hantaviruses.
