Conditions of Employment
  • Successful candidate must submit to a post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check. Additional health screenings may be required, dependent on the nature of the research conducted, as determined by Employee Occupational Health Services.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

A degree in the social sciences. Degrees in hard sciences (i.e. biology, chemistry, engineering, etc.) do not prepare applicants for research work at the ISR CARA.

Research work experience that has occurred in the community and not only as part of an academic education or in a clinical laboratory setting. Community settings may include: health clinics, behavioral health providers, homelessness settings (i.e. shelters, supportive housing, streets), schools, and criminal justice settings (i.e. prisons, jails, law enforcement, and courts).

Research work experience that directly relates to evaluation research and public policy.

Research experience in social science research design, data analysis, and report writing. For example, data collection experiences in designing and conducting focus groups, structured/unstructured observations, interviews, and other primary data sources is important.

Intermediate or advanced experience with a statistical package including SPSS, Stata, or R. The ability to build data sets using different levels of analysis and merge data from one level to another is important. Also, the ability to clean data sets and extract data from secondary sources is relevant.
