Position Summary

UNM’s Facilities Management (FM) has a great opportunity for a Special Activities Tech to join our team. The ideal candidate will be under direct supervision, provides event support for a variety of general campus events and/or special activities. Performs individual and/or departmental moves, technical and general maintenance of grounds, facilities, and/or equipment, at a level not requiring formal licensure. Routinely interacts with all constituents in the campus community.

FM Special Activities is responsible for supporting all special events and moving activities on UNM Central Campus, North Campus (HSC) and South Campus. We work closely with many campus constituents such as the Office of the President, Student Activities, Athletics, Alumni Relations, Safety and Risk Services (SRS) and Parking & Transportation Services (PATS) to ensure that we are delivering efficient and effective service based on sustainability and collaboration.

Conditions of Employment
  • Possession of a valid New Mexico driver's license is a requirement for this job.
  • Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
  • Ability to work outside of normal working hours as needed.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of  constituencies in a diverse community

Using hand and power tools following safety procedures.

Experience in the outdoor maintenance field.

Experience in event setup and take-down.

Experience moving furniture, lab equipment etc.
