The Center for Development and Disability (CDD), established in 1990, is New Mexico's University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities Education, Research and Service. These centers, authorized by the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act, build the capacities of states and communities to respond to the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.
The Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP) Nurse Home Visitor is responsible for providing comprehensive evidenced based nursing service to women and their families eligible for the NFP Program. Nurse home visitors are responsible for maintaining the highest standards in clinical nursing practice and adherence to the NFP model, and to policies, procedures, guidelines and standards of NFP and CDD. This is an opportunity for a Bachelor’s prepared RN with experience in community, maternal/child health, or mental/behavioral health to participate in a life-changing program that combines compassion with science. Home visits are provided to low-income, first time mothers during pregnancy and post-partum through the first two years of a child's life. Providing expectant mothers with a relationship they can count on through implementing an evidence-based home visiting model. The NFP program goals are: improving pregnancy outcomes, improving child health and development, and improving the economic self-sufficiency of the family. The successful candidate will demonstrate experience working with diverse cultures and communities as well as home visiting and family support. The community served by the program is predominantly Spanish-speaking and/or bilingual Spanish and English. The individual hired for the position must also participate in extensive training on the Nurse-Family Partnership model and its implementation.
Successful candidates will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, the capacity to work with monolingual and bilingual Spanish-speaking clients, and comfort with data entry into a web based database. Travel is expected in the Albuquerque Metro area for home visits using personal vehicle and NFP initial required trainings are held out-of-state.
|Conditions of Employment|
Associate's degree in Nursing; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.Certification/LicensureState of New Mexico Licensed Registered Nurse or licensure pending as documented by temporary licensure OR current RN licensure from a state participating in the multistate privilege to practice compact with New Mexico.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Two years recent experience in community/public health, home visiting, maternal/child health, or mental/behavioral.
Experience working independently and able to self-direct, prioritize, and problem solve.
Knowledge of and experience with diverse communities, cultures, and families and fluency in Spanish language skills.
Ability to master specific evidence-based model of home visiting.
