Position Summary

The Center on Alcohol, Substance Use, and Addictions(CASAA), a Category III research intensive center, which reports to The VicePresident for Research, seeks a highly motivated and detail-oriented individualto work as a member of the Research Administration team to provide support inboth pre and post award areas of research administration.  The successfulcandidate will support CASAA investigators and researchers in collaborationwith the Research Administration team, and report to the Program OperationsDirector.  CASAA’s number one priority is to reduce suffering causedby substance use and other addictive behaviors. We do this by generating highquality prevention and treatment research.

Core duties for this position will include:

  • Preparation of proposals for external funding
  • Development of non-technical documents of proposals,including but not limited to budgets and budget justifications ensuring bothUNM’s and sponsor’s guidelines are met
  • Development of proposal record using UNM’s researchadministration software and sponsor portals
  • Assisting in the review of funding announcements to addresssponsor-required criteria
  • Preparation of award extensions and continuations followingsponsor guidelines
  • Manage and update required investigators and researcher’ssponsor documents such as bio sketches and other support
  • Development of department pre and post award procedures toassist in streamlining internal processes
  • Track all planned and pending grant and contractapplications using tracking and project management tools.
  • Serve as a liaison between the PI and the Office ofSponsored Projects (OSP), as appropriate.
  • Willingness to become familiar with sponsor portals andprovide technical assistance as needed to investigators and researchers

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 10 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

  • Bachelor'sor advanced degree
  • Professionalexperience in research administration or sponsored programs administrationeither in a sponsoring or recipient organization
  • Ability to independently identify and utilize availableresources to solve problems and find answers to questions
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to coordinateand prioritize multiple projects
  • Experience preparing federal grant submissions
  • Knowledgeable in multiyear grants with subawards
  • Ability to communicate professionally with faculty in anarray of disciplines that use diverse methodological approaches
