Position Summary

The UNM School of Medicine Combined BA/MD Degree Program (BA/MD) is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Student Recruitment Specialist to join their dynamic team. The BA/MD Program is designed to help address the physician shortage in New Mexico by assembling a class of diverse students who are committed to serving New Mexico communities.

This individual must have excellent oral and written communication skills. The Student Recruitment Specialist must be able to work well independently but must also work well as part of a team. The incumbent will be responsible for oversight and administration of the recruitment process for the BA/MD program.

This position establishes and administers creative programming for targeting, recruitment and retention of prospective BA/MD students. The Student Recruiter serves as a liaison, developing partnerships between the Program, the University, school systems and communities throughout the state.

The selected individual will coordinate and facilitate school visitations, presentations, community workshops, visits from prospective students and parents, and other special events as part of a robust and innovative recruitment strategy. The selected incumbent will be responsible for maintaining a real-time student database and producing specific reports regarding program recruitment.

This position will also work collaboratively to develop marketing materials.

The Student Recruitment Specialist will oversee the recruitment process for the BA/MD program, including oversight of work performed by the Student Recruiter position.

This position requires extensive travel throughout New Mexico.

  • Ability to travel by vehicle or air, locally, statewide and/or out of state.
  • A valid driver's license, or ability to obtain a valid driver's license within thirty days of hire, is required for this job.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 2 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience working as a student recruiter or at an accredited college or university.
  • Prior experience working with high school students.
  • Prior experience delivering presentations to large and small groups.
  • Prior experience working in rural New Mexico communities.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication skills, as demonstrated in required cover letter
